Detroit is a great place to visit or live. Known for its sports, Detroit is home to several professional sports teams, such as the Pistons, Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings. In 2005, the Baseball All-Star game was held in Detroit and in 2006 Detroit will host the Super Bowl. In addition, Detroit holds the North American International Auto Show every year.

Detroit Upscale Homes
Detroit upscale homes are hard to come by just in the Detroit area. On the other hand, 30 minutes of drive time will allow for a great variety of upscale homes to be found. Grosse Pointe Farms is one example of a neighborhood that offers many upscale homes for a person to look at. The Grosse Pointe area also offers some spectacular views towards the Canadian border along with neighboring Grosse Pointe Park. Birmingham, another suburb of Detroit, also offers some upscale homes containing a variety of different features.
The actual Detroit area has some upscale homes, but they aren’t as expensive or as elegantly laid out as the homes in the surrounding suburbs. For a real estate buyer, be sure to weigh your options. If financial matters are not a concern, the homes in the suburbs will definitely provide an elegance of living that will be much harder to find in the Detroit area. On the other hand, if financial resources are more of a concern, then some older homes that have been restored are probably a good option for you as well.
For those wishing to find something in the downtown area of Detroit, townhouses and lofts are also another option that is available. Some of these are on the market to be purchased, not just rented. If you are coming to the Detroit area for the first time, be sure to investigate the areas surrounding Detroit. You might be able to find a wider selection if you broaden your search radius.
